We recently took the 3 day alternative trek/experience to Bunkuany with Domek tours. The booking process was very smooth and they also helped us with questions and booking taxis in Santa Marta. Our local guide for the trip, Dani, was great! He adapted his pace to ours as we attempted to adjust to the (not to be underestimated) heat and humidity of the area. He made the walks both entertaining and interesting by pointing out birds/flora/fauna and sharing interesting facts on the region since he grew up there. The third day is mostly spent with the indigenous community which makes the experience complete. A special shout out to Pablito - the furry, mighty co-guide who joined us for a stretch of the journey.

Me and my wife went on the two day hike of Cerro Kennedy and we absolutely loved it! Every meal we had on the way was delicious and cooked for us by a local family living on the mountain. Our guide Felipe was incredibly knowledgeable about the mountain and was fantastic company on the trek. We saw some exotic birds, heard some screaming howler monkeys and walked through beautiful rainforest. The sunrise trek on the second morning was a particular highlight as the views were simply breathtaking. We would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone and Domek Tours were really helpful and responsive to all of our questions.

The trek was an incredible experience that we can only recommend! Beyond the lost city of Bunkuany, which was stunning, we especially enjoyed the breathtaking landscapes and the three days spent with our guide Felipe, as well as with all the lovely people who welcomed us. A big thank you also to Franklin and Brenda for their valuable advice for the rest of our trip.
A few practical details: the trek ends inside Tayrona Park, so we were able to stay there without paying the entrance fee. Also, we were able to leave our travel bags at the agency during the trek and our visit to the park.
We wish Domek Tours lots of success and sincerely thank them for this wonderful, authentic experience that also supports the local economy!
